Beach Cleaning at Drapanias Beach

In the afternoon today, a major clean-up operation was held on Drapania’s beach in Kissamos after the cargo ship Manassa Rose M grounded there on Tuesday almost two weeks ago.

A large amount of rubbish was driven ashore from the ship and today Kissamos municipality provided cars, tractors, garbage bags, gloves and refreshments. In addition to people from the municipality, there were also crews from the Red Cross, the Youth of Kissamos and the Cultural Association Drapanias, and a number of volunteers present to clean the beach. The action took a couple of hours and was very successful.
