Chania Region in local lockdown from Aug 6th

The entire Chania region (including Kissamos) will be placed into a local lockdown, following a recommendation of the subcommittee of Infectious Diseases and the National Committee for the Protection of Public Health against the Covid-19 coronavirus.

The lockdown comes into force on Friday 6th August. Measures are valid until Friday 13th August and will be re-evaluated by the Commission next week.

The extra rules that apply to areas in lockdown are:

  • Movement ban from 01:00 – 06:00 am, with the exception of work and serious health reasons.
  • 24h prohibition of music in entertainment venues and other places of epidemiological interest

It is also reminded that throughout the country, it is forbidden to hold any events or gatherings with the physical presence of a crowd of more than twenty (20) people in private (non-business) spaces. The administrative fine in case of violation amounts from 50,000 to 200,000 euros.
