ABOUT THIS FESTIVAL:
This unique festival includes two separate evenings dedicated to the authentic sound generated by the Kissamos tradition, in creative dialogue with contemporary musical influences of the rock, jazz and electro scene. Through this artistic encounter, an attempt is made to highlight the dynamic coexistence of tradition with contemporary musical creation, offering the audience an experience that bridges the past with the present.
The participating artists have as a common point of reference their roots in Crete, while their creative path extends beyond the geographical boundaries of the island, conversing with wider musical trends and the contemporary artistic landscape. Their presence gives the events a special character, offering the audience authentic, original and different sounds from the usual.
The choice of the venue for hosting the events is also of particular importance. “Ergostásio”, a place inextricably linked to the history and cultural identity of Kissamos, is a historical space with a deep connection to the woodcarving tradition of the region. In the past, it operated as an olive wood processing unit under the name “Xyloglyptiki EPE”, directly linked to the work of Nikos Lainakis, who highlighted the art of wood by combining traditional technique with modern aesthetic approaches. Today, while maintaining its historical and symbolic character, Ergostásio is evolving into an open space for culture and creation, ideal for hosting cultural events.
