WHEN: 9th – 20th May
Opening: 9th May at 20.30
Opening hours – daily: 11.00 – 15.00 and 19.00 -23.00
WHERE: Grand Arsenal (KAM), Venetian Harbour, Chania
Free entrance.

“It is entitled POPeye and is a mini retrospective exhibition of the last 12 years.
The title POPeye is inspired by the legendary cartoon, but at the same time it is the eye that sees the world from its bright side.

It includes selected works from the most important sections of my work, such as BLUE LADIES, the Hippie Van, the “dolls”, Chania as I dreamed of it, mixed media works and as always, some beautiful known and unknown ladies.

The presentation of different sections aims to present various motifs of my visual expression, but at the same time to show that the method is always the same and non-negotiable:
Dynamic lines, clean colors and optimism. My works follow the POP ART that flourished in the 1960s, giving me my first inspirations. Created with a playful mood, sometimes ambiguous and suggestive and sometimes, simply, delightfully, they aim to remind us of the beautiful side of life and, therefore, to lift our spirits.

The visual journey begins on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 8:30 PM at the Grand Arsenal, and will last until May 20, 2026, I am waiting to see you there!” (Kostas Spanakis)

I'm Austrian living in Tavronitis, love nature, music, good books, sunsets, the sea, travelling, socializing and more. I came to Crete as a student in the early 70s, exploring the west and southwest of the island with friends by motorbike. When you are young everything is important and, there are lots of things to do...I did. Job, family, children, travelling the world. But I never lost my love for Crete for a minute. And nine years ago I ended up in this convenient corner of Crete, not only for holidays, but to stay and haven't regretted it for a minute.
