Documentary “The Sisters of Galatas” – “Οι αδελφές του Γαλατά” προβολή ντοκιμαντέρ  – Chania 21st May

As part of the events celebrating the 85th Anniversary of the Battle of Crete, the Region of Crete-Chania Regional Unit will present the first screening of the documentary entitled “The Sisters of Galatas”, the 1st episode of the 6-part documentary series entitled “Out of Their Own Hands: Women of Crete and the German Occupation” by New Zealand director and producer John Irwin, on Thursday 21 May 2026, at 8:00 PM, at the  Cultural Center, A. Papandreou, Chania .

The documentary tells the story of sisters Anna, Vera and Despina Tapeinakis from Galatas, 12, 10 and 8 years old respectively at the time, whose lives were brutally transformed by the invasion of German paratroopers during World War II.

Στο πλαίσιο των εκδηλώσεων εορτασμού της 85ης Επετείου της Μάχης της Κρήτης, η Περιφέρεια Κρήτης-Περιφερειακή Ενότητα Χανίων παρουσιάσει σε πρώτη προβολή το ντοκιμαντέρ με τίτλο «Οι αδελφές του Γαλατά» [“The Sisters of Galatas”], το 1ο επεισόδιο της σειράς 6 ντοκιμαντέρ με τίτλο «Με τα ίδια τους τα χέρια.

Γυναίκες της Κρήτης και η Γερμανική Κατοχή» [“Out of Their Own Hands: Women of Crete and the German Occupation”] του Νεοζηλανδού σκηνοθέτη και παραγωγού John Irwin, την Πέμπτη 21 Μαΐου 2026, ώρα 20:00, στο Πνευματικό Κέντρο Χανίων.

Το ντοκιμαντέρ αφηγείται την ιστορία των αδελφών Άννας, Βέρας και Δέσποινας Ταπεινάκη από τον Γαλατά, 12, 10 και 8 ετών αντίστοιχα τότε, των οποίων οι ζωές μεταμορφώθηκαν βάναυσα από την εισβολή των Γερμανών αλεξιπτωτιστών κατά τον Β’Π.Π.
