Let’s go for wild greens – activities at Vryses, Platanias, 9th and 10th March

The Region of Crete – Chania Regional Unit in collaboration with local Associations organizes a program of activities to spread the knowledge of picking wild greens (horta) and how to use them.

In this context, the Cultural and Development Association of Vryses, Kydonia, “Pergamos” and the Chania District co-organize for the 2nd year  the activity “In the Land of Wild … Greens”, at Vryses.

The program includes activties for a limited number of participants (groups) but also an open event for everyone.

PROGRAM:

Actions for teams only:
“Stella hold a knife” – Saturday 9/3, 10:00 am, Vryses
 Each group will go out with their own guide on predetermined routes on the paths around the village to collect their own herbs with the help of driver. At the end of the route, each participant will have collected their own bag of greens.

“Cooks in action” – Sunday 10/3, 11:00 am:
The groups will be hosted in separate, traditional houses, where they will participate in the process of making fennel pies under the instructions of the housewife of the house while a professional cook will demonstrate traditional and modern recipes in a traditional wood oven.

Open event for everyone:
“Forks in battle” – Sunday 10/3, 14:00 am: Climax of the action with an event open to all with a treat of meze from recipes based on wild herbs and traditional music.
