Second Hand Bazaar – Product Swap Market, Chania 5th June

The Solid Waste Management Company DEDISA, as part of the celebration of World Environment Day, organizes a “Product Exchange Market” on June 5, 2023, Monday at 11:00 am. m. – 7:00 pm., inside the KIPOS Municipal Garden in Chania.

Give away or trade what you no longer need, with “valuable”  metal or paper packaging (clean – no residues) to be recycled!

The aim of the action is to actively contribute to citizens reusing products, giving them a “second chance at life” while protecting the environment, and cultivating a culture of product exchange between citizens or businesses.

Participation in the “Product Swap Market” is free to those who wish to donate items they no longer need, provided they are over 18 years of age or accompanied by a guardian.

Those interested, in order to participate in the spare bargain, must bring metal or paper packages (not TetraPak type) for recycling in the blue bin and the blue bin with a yellow lid respectively, which will be located at the bargain premises. The same will apply to the transactors.

In particular, everyone can give products they don’t need and “buy” any product they want with a “pricey” (clean-no residue) metal or cardboard packaging (not TetraPak type), for recycling!

Interested parties should register their participation in a timely manner and receive relevant instructions, at phone 2821091888 (esot. 713 or 717), weekdays from 08:00 to 2:30 pm (except Saturday-Sunday). It is noted that, due to the conducting of the market in a limited space, interested parties will be served on a priority basis of declaration of participation.

The action is implemented in the context of subsection 1 of the Act “I Participate!“: Communication Program “I’m Participating! in the “PREVENTION but also PRO(S) APPEAL” implemented by DEDISA and seeks to raise awareness of citizens and professionals, but also visitors to the Municipality of Chania, on the reduction (prevention) production of waste, on reuse and the most effective sorting at the source of urban waste.

The Act of ‘I Participate! » has been part of the “Crete” Business Program 2014-2020 and is funded by the European Union (European Regional Development Fund) and national resources.

I'm Austrian living in Tavronitis, love nature, music, good books, sunsets, the sea, travelling, socializing and more. I came to Crete as a student in the early 70s, exploring the west and southwest of the island with friends by motorbike. When you are young everything is important and, there are lots of things to do...I did. Job, family, children, travelling the world. But I never lost my love for Crete for a minute. And nine years ago I ended up in this convenient corner of Crete, not only for holidays, but to stay and haven't regretted it for a minute.
