Voluntary beach cleaning – Chania 24th October

The volunteer group All For Blue Chania, coordinated by Spyros Petrakis, organizes the first coastal voluntary cleaning at Kladissos Beach on the outskirts of Chania on Sunday, October 24 at 10:00 am .

Meeting point: at the new Kladissos Bridge, New Chora ( (End of Selinou Street, at the big bend)

Kladisos beach is a non-commercial beach that has suffered from plastic pollution for many years. With their recent actions the volunteers of the city have managed to improve the situation, but it is still a beach that, due to the estuary of the River Kladissos and the sea currents, has an uninterrupted and increasing accumulation of plastic waste.
On Sunday, October 24 at 10:00 am, with the help of the new group of volunteers of All for Blue in Chania we will make an effort to make this beach clean again.
Coastal cleaning will be done with Zero Waste protocols and the necessary equipment will be distributed by the members of the All For Blue team to all the volunteers.
Hopefully the weather will allow us to enjoy our Sunday morning doing something useful for the environment.
In case of rain, the appointment will be postponed for next Sunday, October 31.

I'm Austrian living in Tavronitis, love nature, music, good books, sunsets, the sea, travelling, socializing and more. I came to Crete as a student in the early 70s, exploring the west and southwest of the island with friends by motorbike. When you are young everything is important and, there are lots of things to do...I did. Job, family, children, travelling the world. But I never lost my love for Crete for a minute. And nine years ago I ended up in this convenient corner of Crete, not only for holidays, but to stay and haven't regretted it for a minute.
