The Maria Manousaki Quartet – Vlatos 25th July

Maria Manousaki will present music from her last two albums and her latest compositions  at the Vlatos Jazz venue.

COVID guidelines:  all visitors must wear masks and maintain social distance. The maximum number of visitors will be 70, sitting inside and outside.

About Maria Manousaki:

Maria Manousaki, Greek-South African, is a successful, versatile violinist, leader of the New York-based band, and her musical style focusing on jazz and world music.
She graduated from the Berklee College of Music in Boston and has been an international artist ever since, covering various musical genres for many famous events, performing as an independent musician with the band “Maria Manousaki Quintet” around the world.
Maria’s previous album “Sole Voyage” includes her own original music and the fascinating, unusual combinations of Cretan melodies woven into a Jazz wallpaper with Polyrhythmic Percussion.

Her latest album “Hidden Trails” is released in 2021.
Maria is the founder of the World Music Festival of Crete that started in Crete and is the music curator of the Vlatos Jazz series.

I'm Austrian living in Tavronitis, love nature, music, good books, sunsets, the sea, travelling, socializing and more. I came to Crete as a student in the early 70s, exploring the west and southwest of the island with friends by motorbike. When you are young everything is important and, there are lots of things to do...I did. Job, family,children, travelling the world. But I never lost my love for Crete for a minute. And nine years ago I ended up in this convenient corner of Crete, not only for holidays, but to stay and haven't regretted it for a minute.
