About the duet:
Matthieu Durmarque is a tenor, alto and soprano saxophonist born in France in 1986. He started to learn this instrument in local music schools before deciding to become a professional musician. He has had the opportunity to study and graduate 3 high schools of music: Metz Conservatory, Didier Lockwood Center, with a Masters in composition from the Lausanne Conservatory. At the same time, he began to play with different bands, in particular with BB King’s drummer group for one year. Interested and inspired by many musical styles, he plays with various bands, including No Square Jazz Quartet for now 8 years, with whom he tours annually around the world, recently South America, Australia, and New Zealand, China, Europe and this year Japan and Israel.
Stefan Olofsson is a producer / musician from northern Sweden. He has been a studio session player and live musician for many years and has released a solo album entitled “Story of a Woman” combining elements of jazz, classical, progressive and Swedish folk music.
He has performed and recorded with, among others, two-time Grammy winner Jay Graydon (Al Jarreau, George Benson), Jimmy Haslip (Yellowjackets, Gino Vannelli), Jason Scheff (Chicago), Craig Bailey (Ray Charles), Bill Champlin (Chicago), Michael Landau (Seal, Michael Jackson) and Ian Bairnson (Kate Bush, Alan Parsons Project). He was a founding member of the popular Swedish Beatles tribute band THE POSERS and Steely Dan tribute 2ND ARRANGEMENT.
He’s active as a musician, songwriter, arranger, mixing engineer and producer in Swedish AOR band STATE COWS and progressive rock band DYNAMO BLISS. Both groups have released several critically acclaimed albums. He also composes music templates for the Toontrack software EZKeys.
At Vlatos these two friends have the opportunity to go back to their roots of Broadway jazz standards in their unique improvisational style together.
