A musical journey dedicated to the Greek and World Cinema, with soprano Gina Fotinopoulou, tenor Dimitris Sigalos and pianist Dimitris Yakas, who are covering a programme with melodies of widely known films.
WHEN: 22nd October at 21:00
WHERE:Center for Mediterranean Architecture, Venetian Harbour, Chania
The artists present a musical journey from the American Cinema of the Interwar War period (1920-1940) and the cinematic musicals of the 1950s to the music theatre, the award-winning soundtracks, as well as arias of classical music associated with scenes of beloved films of the 1980s. The musical journey ends with distinctive melodies of the Greek cinema, from the beginnings until the 1960s.
A journey through the music of the cinema, as Manos Hadjidakis once said, is the one that “preserves the image, interprets it, while painting wishes and remembering ours and our personal identification with the aspects of a black and white dream of thirty-five millimeters.”
