The Evenos String Quartet consisting of highly successful, young musicians was formed in Germany in 2012 by four string players with Greek, German and Belgian roots.
They have been educated at the University of Music and Dance in Cologne, the Royal Conservatory in Antwerp and Folkwang University of Arts.
By combining their skills and knowledge, these four young musicians have achieved significant success in the field of chamber music. The awards, co-operation with well-known artists, as well as many international appearances testify to the exceptional quality of the Evenos String Quartet.

Founding member of the quartet is Yannis Petrakis from Crete, a violin graduate from the Municipal Conservatory of Rethymno, already at the age of 18, who has since then been in Germany, where he graduated and postgraduated in different music studies ( soloist, pedagogical, orchestral and Chamber music). Yannis Petrakis, from Viannos in the Region of Rethymno, is the president of the Association of Friends of the Gallery “Savvas Petrakis” in Viannos. Savvas is known for his cultural activities on Crete.

The members of the string quartet are also permanently involved in the KlangVerwaltung German Symphony Orchestra, touring all over Europe, North and South America and Asia.

In 2015 and 2016 they also won first prizes in International Music Competitions.
In March 2017 the quartet collaborated with Yannis Haroulis at the Konzerthaus in Berlin as part of the European tour of the artist.
In the summer of 2017 the quartet will participate in the International Chamber Music Festival in Stelenbosch, South Africa.Evenos String Quartet

I'm Austrian living in Tavronitis, love nature, music, good books, sunsets, the sea, travelling, socializing and more. I came to Crete as a student in the early 70s, exploring the west and southwest of the island with friends by motorbike. When you are young everything is important and, there are lots of things to do...I did. Job, family, children, travelling the world. But I never lost my love for Crete for a minute. And nine years ago I ended up in this convenient corner of Crete, not only for holidays, but to stay and haven't regretted it for a minute.
