Cleaning Korfalonas Beach

On Thursday, the Kissamos Beach Cleaning team met to clean the beach of Korfalonas, that has some of the nicest sand in the area.

We met by Mesogeio hotel, and seeing how participation was quite high, we split into two smaller teams. A few volunteers went East, towards the imposing olive factory. This area is more pebbly and has seen the coastline recede by the factory wall, where the beach has almost disappeared. It was not especially dirty. The rest of the team moved West, towards Kissamos. This is a very attractive beach, that’s chosen by many tourists and many nesting turtles in the summer because of its fine sand. Again, it wasn’t especially dirty, possibly also because of the information signs we recently placed!

Andrea, a tourist from Mesogios beach hotel, saw us at work and joined us before his breakfast. There were more than 15 of us, and we collected quite a few bags all together.

We have some exciting plans for the future, that we believe will help keeping Kissamos beaches cleaner and nicer for everyone, so stay tuned.
