Musical performance: “Woman – a musical portrait” – Chania 8th March

The Municipality of Chania invites you on Sunday, 8th March, at 20.00 at the “Mikis Theodorakis” theatre, Venetian Harbour, Chania, to the musical performance “Woman, a musical portrait”.
Free entrance.

A performance for two performers and one piano on the theme of International Women’s Day

Texts, orchestral compositions and songs from Greek musical literature, narrate and present with particular respect and sensitivity the multidimensional nature of women as well as their presence and importance in the various roles they play in our society.

A tour of emblematic songs by great Greek composers (M. Theodorakis, M. Hadjidakis, Th. Mikroutsikou, etc.).

The discourse converses with the melodies, creating a mosaic of memory and a terrain of reflections on the present, where women are not just muse, but the very source of life and creation, from the daily struggle for existence to the modern, emancipated woman and her mythical characteristics in art.

8 March TYNAIKA

Lydia

I'm Austrian living in Tavronitis, love nature, music, good books, sunsets, the sea, travelling, socializing and more. I came to Crete as a student in the early 70s, exploring the west and southwest of the island with friends by motorbike. When you are young everything is important and, there are lots of things to do...I did. Job, family, children, travelling the world. But I never lost my love for Crete for a minute. And nine years ago I ended up in this convenient corner of Crete, not only for holidays, but to stay and haven't regretted it for a minute.
