About EPIPHANY:
Every year on 6th January, Epiphany Day, (the Blessing of the Waters) is celebrated to welcome new beginnings
The priest throws an orthodox cross into the water, which young men then dive after. Whoever catches the cross first will receive a special blessing.
The Blessing of the Waters not only remembers the event of Our Lord’s baptism and the revelation of the Holy Trinity but also expresses Orthodoxy’s belief that creation is sanctified through Christ.
