RAKI vs TSIKOUDIA:
Tsikoudia is the official Cretan name for a spirit distilled from grape pomace, while raki is a general term, and in Crete, it is mostly used interchangeably with tsikoudia. The confusion often arises because the term “raki” is sometimes associated with the Turkish anise-flavored drink, but Greek tsikoudia does not contain anise, making it a pure grape distillate.
