Vocal Music Concert – Chania 11th May

A vocal music concert, with the participation of the Thalita Vocal Ensemble, the Cantilena Choir and the Youth Choir of the Manioudakis Conservatory is organized by the Municipality of Chania.
WHEN: Sunday, 11th May at 20.30
WHERE: Mikis Theodorakis Theatre, Venetian Harbour, Chania
Admission is free for the public.

First part of the concert:
the Thalita Vocal Ensemble will present a program of Renaissance music, conducted by Yiannis Protopapas.

Second part:
the Cantilena Choir and the Youth Choir of the Manioudakis Conservatory will perform excerpts from the well-known rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice.
The work, which was first presented in 1970, is a pioneering musical approach to the last week of Jesus’ life. With its dynamic melodies and intense lyricism Jesus Christ Superstar remains one of the most important and subversive works of modern musical theater.

The choir is conducted by Giorgos Kaloutsis.
Alkyoni Malekaki will accompany on the piano.
The narrator is Stavros Zoulakis.
The bassist: Yannis Kassotakis.

I'm Austrian living in Tavronitis, love nature, music, good books, sunsets, the sea, travelling, socializing and more. I came to Crete as a student in the early 70s, exploring the west and southwest of the island with friends by motorbike. When you are young everything is important and, there are lots of things to do...I did. Job, family,children, travelling the world. But I never lost my love for Crete for a minute. And nine years ago I ended up in this convenient corner of Crete, not only for holidays, but to stay and haven't regretted it for a minute.
