MIKIS THEODORAKIS FESTIVAL 2024 – Chania, Galatas 30th August – 2nd September

As part of the Festival various events and parallel actions will be held with the presence of outstanding artists and important personalities.

This year, as part of the annual Mikis Theodorakis Festival, a Civil Memorial is being held in Chania on 2nd September.  The keynote speaker will be President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulidis. This year is also the 50th anniversary of the Turkish invasion of Cyprus, mourned by Greeks everywhere as a blow against the progress of Hellenism.
Mikis Theodorakis was always a strong supporter of Cypriot reunification and Mr Christodoulidis is expected to emphasise the composer’s support for Cyprus through his works and activities.

Lydia

I'm Austrian living in Tavronitis, love nature, music, good books, sunsets, the sea, travelling, socializing and more. I came to Crete as a student in the early 70s, exploring the west and southwest of the island with friends by motorbike. When you are young everything is important and, there are lots of things to do...I did. Job, family, children, travelling the world. But I never lost my love for Crete for a minute. And nine years ago I ended up in this convenient corner of Crete, not only for holidays, but to stay and haven't regretted it for a minute.
