Photo exhibition “The Place and its People” – Palaia Roumata 11th June

WHERE: Hall of cultural events, Palaia Roumata (24 km south of Tavronitis, on the road to Palaiochora).

The opening of the exhibition will take place on Sunday, June 11 at 12:00. It is an exhibition that captures through the photographic lens, people and events ofPalaia Roumata, the history and social activities of the inhabitants, then and now, with the aim of preserving customs and traditions and promoting their activities.

The Mayor of Platanias Mr. Yiannis Malandrakis: “It is with great pleasure that the Municipality of Platanias participates as a co-organizer in the photography exhibition organized by the Public Library of Palaia Roumata. By using the building’s infrastructure and making it available to initiatives such as the current event, we promote the place, its people and their history, residents famous for their bravery and their free spirit.

I'm Austrian living in Tavronitis, love nature, music, good books, sunsets, the sea, travelling, socializing and more. I came to Crete as a student in the early 70s, exploring the west and southwest of the island with friends by motorbike. When you are young everything is important and, there are lots of things to do...I did. Job, family,children, travelling the world. But I never lost my love for Crete for a minute. And nine years ago I ended up in this convenient corner of Crete, not only for holidays, but to stay and haven't regretted it for a minute.
