Negative opinion about large-scale Falasarna development
The Hellenic Society for the Environment and Cultural Heritage has reviewed the Strategic Environmental Impact Study on the big project in Falasarna and agrees with the negative opinion already expressed by Kissamos CIty Council.
The objections are based on the actual environmental impact on the protected area of Falasarna beach, but also, directly from the final opinion:
…the loss of open and free access and use of such a characteristic place [Falasarna main beach seafront] will be a blow to the public interest. […] Having most of the sea front taken over by one property, without clear commitments to facilitate and ensure public access to the seafront and beach area for the public, is absolutely problematic.
