Large-scale resort proposal for Falasarna beach

Falasarna beach, like many other parts of Crete and Kissamos area, is under intense development pressure.

A huge development is in the plans that will cover 120,000 sqm of the beach area, famous for the fine sand and for the crystal clear water.

The planned development is a big resort with a capacity of more than 800 beds, in the middle of a protected area where the endangered Loggerhead sea turtles nest and the beautiful and delicate sea lilies dot the sand dunes.

The big project has met the opposition of many locals, including the local council of Kissamos and of many concerned citizens of the area and of Chania.
