6th Crete Marathon – parallel events in Kissamos 7th May

Saturday, 7th May  at 17.00  in the courtyard of the City Hall of Kissamos: exhibition, music.
At 18.00: start of the torch relay.

This year the 5 km race of the Marathon is dedicated to the 100-year -anniversary of the Asia Minor Catastrophe.

On the occasion of the 6th Crete Marathon and the 100-year -anniversary of the Asia Minor Catastrophe the Municipality of Kissamos organised the following events:

Works by students of Kissamos on the theme of the Asia Minor Catastrophe will be exhibited at the City Hall, students of the 3rd Primary School of Kissamos will perform a traditional Asia Minor song, and the Philharmonic of the Municipality of Kissamos “Ireneos Galanakis” will also participate.
After the end of the event, at 18.00 pm, the torch relay will begin, which will initially move in the main streets of Kissamos with the participation of  athletes from Kissamos, the super-athlete Costas Varouchakis and the Regional Department of Hellenic Red Cross and will end at the Orthodox Academy of Crete in Kolymvari, starting point of the 6th Crete Marathon.
