“GREEN ACTION”- call for volunteers for cleaning and beautification, Municipality Platanias 4th – 14th April

CLEANING AND BEAUTIFICATION ACTIVITIES – Call for active participation

The Municipality of Platanias in collaboration with cultural associations, school communities,  volunteer groups and similar bodies, will carry out a 10-day cleaning and beautification program, from 4th  until 14th April, within the framework of its Green Action.

The Municipality will take every effort to coordinate and support this first GREEN ACTION in order to implement it and calls for active participation of all.

The following actions are carried out:

  • Garbage collection from various parts and corners of the Municipality and placing prohibition signs.
  • Removal of abandoned cars in public places (streets, squares, sidewalks) and recommendation for private plots.
  • Informing individuals about cleaning their plots from garbage, which are sources of pollution and contamination.
  • Continuation of Tree Planting in Public Spaces (streets-squares).
  • Whitewashing and grooming in the neighborhoods of the Municipality.
  • Creating and promoting a special spot to raise awareness among citizens.

The Municipality will provide garbage bags and gloves for the above actions, such as collecting garbage from gorges, paths, beaches, etc.

I'm Austrian living in Tavronitis, love nature, music, good books, sunsets, the sea, travelling, socializing and more. I came to Crete as a student in the early 70s, exploring the west and southwest of the island with friends by motorbike. When you are young everything is important and, there are lots of things to do...I did. Job, family,children, travelling the world. But I never lost my love for Crete for a minute.
