At a time when we cannot meet and socialise, or have fun as before, these two hours with the company of Ilias Horeftakis will certainly be a very pleasant break.
Live broadcast of a two hours’ music program with Ilias Horeftakis and his band (on invitation of the Gavalomouri Cultural Association “Holy Trinity”).
For those who do not know the Cretan musician Ilias Horeftakis:
Ilias Horeftakis was born to Stefanos and Anastasia in Horeftiana near Chania, Crete, in 1972. He ‘fell in love’ with music at a very early age, following a family tradition and the example of his grandfather Nikos Harhalis. He started violin lessons at the age of 12 with Michalis Kounelis.
Kostas Papadakis, also known as “Naftis” (sailor), taught Ilias not only the art, but also the history and origins of the Cretan music.
Ilias played his first glendi (Greek cultural festival) at the age of 13. Since then, he has performed repeatedly throughout Crete and the rest of Greece, as well as in the United States on many occasions. His first album, “Paraxena minimata” (Strange messages), was released in 1998.
