90th anniversary of Mountaineering Club Chania and 50th anniversary of Kallergi Shelter (Omalos)

In 2020 the Mountaineering Club of Chania celebrates ninety years of ‘life and action’.

The celebration of the 90th anniversary coincides with the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the operation of the Kallergi Shelter, above the Omalos P13 July E.O.Slateau.

On the occasion of these celebrations, the Mountaineering Association in collaboration with EL.TA. issued two anniversary commemorative stamps, depicting the Kallergi shelter and the White Mountains, Pachnes and Melintao peaks.
The Mountaineering Association of Chania organizes an event for the presentation of these commemorative stamps, with a brief reference to its history and display of images from this year’s educational activities, on Monday, July 13, 2020 at 20:30 pm, in co-organization with the Region Of Crete.
The event will take place in the courtyard of the  Cultural Centre of Chania,
70 Andrea Papandreou Street, which will last for about one and a half hours.

Admission is free for the public.

Lydia

I'm Austrian living in Tavronitis, love nature, music, good books, sunsets, the sea, travelling, socializing and more. I came to Crete as a student in the early 70s, exploring the west and southwest of the island with friends by motorbike. When you are young everything is important and, there are lots of things to do...I did. Job, family, children, travelling the world. But I never lost my love for Crete for a minute. And nine years ago I ended up in this convenient corner of Crete, not only for holidays, but to stay and haven't regretted it for a minute.
