Guided shipwreck snorkel – Discover a shallow WWII wreck in West Crete

Discover an easily accessible underwater WWII shipwreck. It lies in the shallows by the rocky coastline, in a super sheltered area with crystal clear blue waters.

Get to know your island and support a local business.

This excursion is good for beginner swimmers. We can enter the water from the rocks right next to the shipwreck. For more confident swimmers, we can set off from a small cove and swim about 300m in total.

Snorkels, masks, neoprene shorties and vests provided. Introductory snorkelling instructions for absolute beginners. Safety briefing. Small groups. Guide in the sea with hi-visibility tow float.

We set off from Kissamos and head towards Falasarna, on the West coast. We’ll give you a short history of the area and of the harbour of Phalasarna. This was the site of an ancient city and a trade route stop.
We’ll walk together to a small cove – about 15 minutes on a rocky path – then we’ll snorkel out to the WWII transport ship wreck. You’ll be able to swim around and explore also the sea life around it.
The wreck lies in surprisingly shallow waters, making this fascinating site accessible without scuba equipment. We’ll have a quick snack at the beach after the swim before we walk back to the car and return to Kissamos.

Walking time: 30 – 50 minutes. Snorkelling time: 20 – 50 minutes. Total excursion time: 2 – 3 hours.

25€/adult. 15€/young person up to 18 years old. Advance booking required.

Sunday 31st May, 5pm.
