“Staying at home and travelling through Greek literature…”

“Staying at home and travelling through Greek literature…” is an initiative by the General Secretariat for Diplomacy and Consular Affairs in support of Greece’s “Stay Home” campaign against the spread of the coronavirus.

Greek literature recited in a video posted on the Greek Foreign Ministry’s Facebook account Thursday.

“Through the universality and the timelessness of Greek literature, from Homer to the present day, [the envoys] are sending their own message of international solidarity against the pandemic,” the General Secretariat said in a statement.

They recite in Greek with English subtitles, English and French.

The second part of the video will be released next week.

I'm Austrian living in Tavronitis, love nature, music, good books, sunsets, the sea, travelling, socializing and more. I came to Crete as a student in the early 70s, exploring the west and southwest of the island with friends by motorbike. When you are young everything is important and, there are lots of things to do...I did. Job, family, children, travelling the world. But I never lost my love for Crete for a minute. And nine years ago I ended up in this convenient corner of Crete, not only for holidays, but to stay and haven't regretted it for a minute.
