‘WHO HAS SEEN SPRING….?’ – A magnificent initiative launched by Cretan artists in support of the Thoracic Diseases Hospital SOTIRIA in Athens.

In the last few hours all over Greece the moving song of Cretan musicians  Ποιος είδε άνοιξη καρό… (Who has seen  spring  …) has been heard and listened to, a musical creation aiming at assisting the ‘frontline soldiers’ in the country’s battle against COVID-19, the proceeds going to the Thoracic Diseases Hospital SOTIRIA (Η Σωτηρία) in Athens.
The idea was started by Antonis Martzakis and became reality with the help and involvement of other Cretan musicians.
Crete Live News entitled the article ‘Who has seen spring  .. the fear of being misled – Cretan artists sing and move us’.

Nikos Stratakis, Antonis  and Nikos Xylouris,  Andreas Manolarakis, Antonis  Martsakis, Giorgos Stratakis, Dimitris Spyridakis and Costas Saridakis perform the song in support of the Athens based Thoracic Diseases Hospital SOTIRIA  for the purchase of nursing supplies in the fight against the corona virus.
The musicians did the recordings and performances  each in their homes, doing the right thing: ΜΕΝΟΥΜΕ ΣΠΙΤI (WE STAY AT HOME).

“A moving song … about the values of our life”, says the Mayor or Kissamos, “a song that gives hope and comfort … created by the artists on a voluntary basis.
Congratulations to all contributors!”

I'm Austrian living in Tavronitis, love nature, music, good books, sunsets, the sea, travelling, socializing and more. I came to Crete as a student in the early 70s, exploring the west and southwest of the island with friends by motorbike. When you are young everything is important and, there are lots of things to do...I did. Job, family, children, travelling the world. But I never lost my love for Crete for a minute. And six years ago I ended up in this convenient corner of Crete, not only for holidays, but to stay and haven't regretted it for a minute.
