Musical “Erotokritikos” (Vamos Ensemble) – Chania 20th June
Erotokritos by Dimitris Maramis, in form of a modern Greek musical based on the original masterpiece of Vitsentzos Cornaros: within the framework of the Erotokritikos Year 2019, this performance is presented by the new concert orchestra of the the Vamos Ensemble .

Dimitris Maramis composed a work full of powerful melodies based on Vitsentzos Cornaros’s masterpiece Erotokritikos. With Cretan musical influences, references to jazz, blues and even Hatzidakis, the composer created a new melodic universe for the lyrics of Erotokritikos. V.Cornaros is considered to be the greatest of all the Cretan poets and one of the most significant and influential figures in the entire course of Greek poetry
The talented performers Thodoris Voutsikakis (Erotokritos), Eleni Dimopoulou (Aretousa), Ioanna Forti (Paramana), along with the Vamos Ensemble, present this uniquely immortal masterpiece of the Cretan Renaissance.
The Vamos Ensemble is a symphony orchestra composed of sixteen musicians residing in Crete. They first appeared five years ago and have as a base the village of Vamos in Chania. Through their particular orchestrations, they create their own distinctive sound and perform music of the world, with the authenticity and spontaneity of the musical ensemble.
