Movie “HAPPY DAY” – Chania 18th November

The cultural Association “Friends of Letters and Arts” invites you to the movie “Happy Day”, a sociopolitical drama, adapted from a novel by Andreas Frangias.
WHEN: 18th November 20.00
WHERE: Cultural Centre, Andrea Papandreou 70, Chania
Entrance: free

The movie has a fiercely ironic title. On a wind-swept, sun-scorched, arid island, the control of the authorities over the prisoners  in the concentration camp seems to be total.
Everyday life of the people who live there consists of interrogations, psychological and physical violence, arbitrary punishments and other torments.
Savvopoulos’ music depicts the pieces into which the souls of the prisoners have broken.
The film director Pantelis Voulgaris himself was imprisoned on an island in the early 1970s, during Greece’s military dictatorship.

I'm Austrian living in Tavronitis, love nature, music, good books, sunsets, the sea, travelling, socializing and more. I came to Crete as a student in the early 70s, exploring the west and southwest of the island with friends by motorbike. When you are young everything is important and, there are lots of things to do...I did. Job, family, children, travelling the world. But I never lost my love for Crete for a minute. And nine years ago I ended up in this convenient corner of Crete, not only for holidays, but to stay and haven't regretted it for a minute.
