Cinema Festival: “A Haute Voix” (“Speak Loud”) and “I’m dancing, therefore I am” – Chania 28th October

Chania Film FestivalThe Chania Film Festival of Crete collaborates internationally, produces parallel events  also works together with educational communities with the aim of developing audiovisual education, emphasising the connection of documentaries to education.

On Sunday 28 October at 20.00 at the Cultural Center of Chania, Andrea Papandreou, within the framework of the Cultural Agreement between the Region of Crete and the French Institute of Greece and in collaboration with the Greek-French Association of Chania, the French documentary À Voix Haute (Speak Loud) is on..

The film follows a group of students from the suburbs of Paris who take part in an annual rhetoric contest. It is the first time they take part in the contest and most have never spoken publicly. The film highlights the power of speech and how to overcome our limits.

Duration 95 minutes,  in French language with Greek subtitles.

Immediately before that, a 15-minute film will be featured for the Free Dancing educational program – “I’m dancing, therefore communicating“:
In cooperation with the Onassis Foundation, which took place in 2018 with the participation of 5 Chania secondary schools. The program aims to enhance creativity, self-confidence and co-operation among students through the art of modern dance. The 15-minute film was filmed in Chania in February 2018, starring students of the Chania, Souda, Vrysses and Voukolies schools participating in the program.

After the two screenings, a discussion with the public will be held with representatives of the Onassis Foundation and the French Institute.

I'm Austrian living in Tavronitis, love nature, music, good books, sunsets, the sea, travelling, socializing and more. I came to Crete as a student in the early 70s, exploring the west and southwest of the island with friends by motorbike. When you are young everything is important and, there are lots of things to do...I did. Job, family,children, travelling the world. But I never lost my love for Crete for a minute. And nine years ago I ended up in this convenient corner of Crete, not only for holidays, but to stay and haven't regretted it for a minute.
