Festival “Land – Culture – Tourism” in Platanias 23rd and 24th September

This is a  unique opportunity to experience the traditions of this part of Crete, especially the autumn traditions,  with focus of wine production, and to discover new local products, to have fun, to dance, to participate in original actions, together with  local residents and visitors.

WHEN: 23rd  and 24th September  19.30
WHERE: Platanias, Platanias Square on 23rd and at the OLEA SHOPPING MALL on 24th September
Admission is free to all, including tasting of local products.

On 23rd September at 19:30 a big celebration will be held at Platanias Square with  a grape press and  Tsikoudia production The members of the Cultural Association Platanias will also prepare the traditional  grape must.
The Chefs’ Club of Crete will cook and offer delicacies of tradition and local culture …
Of course, there is music and dance – local musical and dance groups are performing. (Giorgos Motakis and Michalis Loufardakis)
Sunday morning a group of visitors will go to a vineyard in the village of Vouves to participate in the traditional harvesting together with residents of the region.

I'm Austrian living in Tavronitis, love nature, music, good books, sunsets, the sea, travelling, socializing and more. I came to Crete as a student in the early 70s, exploring the west and southwest of the island with friends by motorbike. When you are young everything is important and, there are lots of things to do...I did. Job, family,children, travelling the world. But I never lost my love for Crete for a minute.
