Live broadcast MET OPERA: W.A. Mozart’s “Zauberflöte” (“Ο Μαγικός Αυλός”), Chania 14th October

 

“Die Zauberflöte” (“The Magic Flute”), a live broadcast in HD, is conducted by Met music director James Levine.
This masterpiece of W.A. Mozart is a magical fable, the story of which, however, is  universal as any fairy tale.
Prince Tamino and Papageno are sent by the Queen of Night to save her daughter Pamina from the clutches of the evil lord Sarastro.

“Die Zauberflöte” is the last of Mozart’s 17 operas. He conducted its premiere in Vienna on 30th September 1791. Liberty, love, fraternity, the triumph of good, the seeking of virtue,  and the prevailing of truth are the values conveyed in this magnificent opera.

Golda Schultz makes her Met debut as Pamina with Kathryn Lewek as the Queen of the Night, Charles Castronovo as the fairy tale prince Tamino, Markus Werba as the bird-catching Papageno, Christian Van Horn as Sprecher, and René Pape as Sarastro.
