Chamber Music “From Crete to the World” -International Concert for Chania, Chania 9th September

Chamber music works of  composers from different nations – associated with Greece.Organized by the “Mozart Friends Association’s Creative Team” in Chania with  collaboration and  auspices of the “Cretan Studies Society”.
Musical works from Crete as a cradle and axis of a global spiritual tradition are projected into one “creative multi-faceted concert”,  incorporating  east, west, north and south and thus become an international concert

Musicians:
The leading members of the Athens State Orchestra:
Evangelos Stathoulopoulos: flute,
Isidoros Sideris: cello,
Panagiotis Tziotis: violin,
Evangelos Skouras: horn
and the distinguished soloist pianist Apostolos Palis.

Musical works from Crete as a cradle and axis of a global spiritual tradition are projected into one “creative multi-faceted concert”,  incorporating four different  horizons: east, west, north and south and thus become an international concert.

Programme:
The concert begins with Karl Nielsen’s “Ketto seraiozo” for piano and horns
and continues with an excerpt from the work of Bochuslav Martinu’s  “Madrigal-Sonata”
(spiritual companion of Nikos Kazantzakis),
works by Jacques Iber, Igor Stravinsky,Robert Schumann, Dmitry Shostakovich, Nikos Skalkotas, Alexander Glazounov, Dimitris Kapsomenou,
Costas Kydoniatis, Giannis Konstantinidis, Konstantinos Kakavelakis …

I'm Austrian living in Tavronitis, love nature, music, good books, sunsets, the sea, travelling, socializing and more. I came to Crete as a student in the early 70s, exploring the west and southwest of the island with friends by motorbike. When you are young everything is important and, there are lots of things to do...I did. Job, family,children, travelling the world. But I never lost my love for Crete for a minute. And nine years ago I ended up in this convenient corner of Crete, not only for holidays, but to stay and haven't regretted it for a minute.
