About the artists:

Eleni and Souzana Vougioukli started exploring world music very early and went on to experiment with the potential of human voice as an innate musical instrument. With specific emphasis on the original language and appropriate respect for pronunciation and articulation of each individual  form, they sing in more than twenty languages and dialects a capella or accompanied by piano, guitar and percussions, instruments they play themselves.

Eleni was born in Thessaloniki and grew up in Xanthi.  She holds a BA in Balkan, Slavic and Oriental Studies of the University of Macedonia. She has also studied piano (from the age of four), music theory and solo including all classical, Byzantine and jazz. Similarly, she studied Byzantine and jazz theory and music. She began performing traditional Greek songs from the age of eight.

Souzana was born and raised in Xanthi.  She is a graduate of the Mathematics Department of the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki.

She has studied piano (from the age of four), guitar, advanced theory and solo, as well as jazz – song and theory. She is also involved in composing. She has studied classical, traditional and afro-jazz dancing, as well as theatrical performing. She speaks English, French and a little Italian, Spanish and Portuguese.  The study of the relationship between music and mathematics is one of the things which especially interests her

7 August Ancient ApteraInfo: event page

I'm Austrian living in Tavronitis, love nature, music, good books, sunsets, the sea, travelling, socializing and more. I came to Crete as a student in the early 70s, exploring the west and southwest of the island with friends by motorbike. When you are young everything is important and, there are lots of things to do...I did. Job, family, children, travelling the world. But I never lost my love for Crete for a minute. And seven years ago I ended up in this convenient corner of Crete, not only for holidays, but to stay and haven't regretted it for a minute.
