“A Woman’S Life” is the story of a tormented love in the restrictive social and moral codes in 19th century in Normandy, France.
After finishing her schooling in a convent, the young aristocrat Jeanne marries Viscount Julien de Lamare, who soon turns out to be a miserly and unfaithful husband. Jeanne gradually experiences the harsh realities of a woman’s life in the 19th-century and her rosy illusions about her privileged world are slowly stripped away.
