Holy week & Easter in Kissamos

Sunday 9th April 2017 is the beginning of ‘Holy Week‘ (Megali Evdomada) in Greece, the week leading up to the big celebrations of Easter weekend (15th-16th-17th April).

During holy week, shops may keep to a reduced timetable and there are church services held every evening. Good Friday is a day of mourning and you will hear church bells tolling the death of Christ.

Easter Sunday (16th April) and Monday (17th April) are national holidays and shops, banks and offices will be closed.
