Premiere of the theatrical show “Educating Rita”, Saturday, November 26, by the Municipal Regional Theatre of Crete.
The Crete Municipal Theatre presents the play “Educating Rita” by Willy Russell, Saturday November 26, at the Venizelio Conservatory, 9 pm .
ABOUT THE PROJECT
This performance highlights the importance of education in our lives and shows us how knowledge is always there, you only need a man to take the plunge and to the devoted. A crass hairdresser who barely finished school, she takes the plunge to be educated, at a relatively mature age. Selects literature because she believes that there she will meet the deeper meaning of life. She instinctively trusts writers, because they dedicate their reflection to explore man himself. She applied for and was accepted by the open university. Her teacher happens to be Frank, a middle-aged professor with great love of drink. And from there begins the wandering of both. Because both ends when the project has changed and they have better understand themselves and life itself.
The play was performed for the first time in London in 1980, and in 1983 filmed the homonymous film with Michael Kane in the role of Frank and Julie Walters in the role of Rita.
