Nameday of Virgin Mary – Holiday in Chania, 21 November

Monday is the celebration of the Presentation of the Virgin Mary and this will be a local holiday in Chania as Mary is the patron saint of the city. The celebration will take place in the cathedral on Halidon. Note that public services and probably many shops will be closed that day. Thanks to Crete Post for the picture.

Departure from the church Virgin Mary  Chania Halidon – Square  1866  – Kydonia Rd, Town Hall –  N. Plasters –  Market Square (Prayer) – Markopoulo Square  – Tsouderon – Pottie –  Karoli Dimitriou  and back to  Halidon Rd. (Prayer)

 11:45:   thanksgiving in the Cathedral for the Day of the Armed Forces followed by a
memorial service at the Peace and Friendship Park , Andrea Papandreou Rd. For map click here.

 the 7 pm:   concert and speeches at the Cultural Centre of Chania next to the Peace and Friendship Park, A. Papandreou 73.
