Raki Festival Chania 22nd October

The Raki Festival – or Tsikoudia Festival  –  is a traditional dance and music event as well as the revival of the traditional way of Tsikoudia (Raki) distillation at the Venetian Port of Chania.raki-festival Chaniaraki-destilling

Where: Venetian Harbour, at the  Yali Tzamisi Square (where the Mosque is)

The Folklore  Club of Chania “Psiloritis” organized  this event in collaboration with the Municipality of Chania  and the KAM (Centre of Mediterranean Architecture).

This festival takes place  for the 21st consecutive year and attracts locals and visitors who come to see the revival of raki distillation in the  traditional way and enjoy Cretan music, dance,  traditional Cretan dishes and of course plenty of raki.

Live music by the band of Nektarios and FT Kostaki.
The folklore dance group Psiloritis will present traditional dances from all over Greece.

I came to Crete as a student in the early 70s, exploring the west and southwest of the island with friends by motorbike.
