Stavros Xarhakos’ great music has accompanied us for almost half a century.
He was born in 1939 in Athens, studied at the Athens Conservatoire and emerged in the Greek music scene in the early 60s, composing music both for theatre and cinema, Greek popular music, but he also composed in the classical musical genre. Internationally he is known as Rembetiko composer.
He has also been involved in politics, member of the Greek Parliament before he became a member of the European Parliament.
