First sea turtle tracks in Kissamos 2016

Vehicle tracks on turtle nesting beach in Kissamos

Yesterday on Kissamos beach, in the Korfalonas area, the first sea turtle tracks of the season were spotted.
The turtle crawled all the way up the beach and back to the sea without even attempting to dig for a nest. She will probably try again. It’s quite an early start to sea turtle nesting activity in Crete.
In the same area, many dangerous vehicle tracks, potential nest killers, have been seen. Driving on the beach is illegal, but no signs or obstacles to prevent cars from entering the beach are present.
