EVENTS – EXHIBITIONS within the framework of the commemorative celebrations:
FOYER OF THE CULTURAL CENTRE OF CHANIA – EXHIBITION “FRAMING CRETE”
Within the framework of the commemorative events of the 75th Anniversary of the Battle of Crete, the
Cultural Centre will reopen the exhibition “Framing Crete”, with paintings by New Zealand painter
Peter McIntyre, the Official New Zealand war artist on Crete during WWII, together with pictures taken
by New Zealand soldiers in 1941. The exhibition is curated by Film Maker John Irwin.

“MANKIND FIGHTS BACK: THE CHALLENGE, THE BATTLE, THE VICTORY”: EXHIBITION OF WW II POSTERS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD (1941-1945)

Rare painted and lithographic WWII posters and photographs from Greece, Europe,Australia, New Zealand and America, with themes of encouragement of resistance to invaders and antiwar messages. The exhibition includes screening of rare 16 mm German propaganda and American films of the time, showing the victories of the Greeks during the Occupation, including footage of Crete.
