ABOUT the musical performance “I longed for a country”:
The musical performance “I Longed for a Country” is a contemporary, musical-narrative tribute to the work of Mikis Theodorakis. Its goal is to reintroduce his work to today’s audience through new, rhythmic arrangements,
without altering its core and emotional depth. The performance was presented for the first time in Athens with two consecutive sold out performances, gathering excellent reactions from the audience.

ARTISTIC CONCEPT
The work of Mikis Theodorakis does not belong to the past; it remains alive, relevant and deeply cultural.
The performance does not attempt a nostalgic representation, but a creative conversation with the present.
The songs alternate with short narrative excerpts: words of the composer himself,
thoughts about freedom, homeland, man and collective memory.

The viewer does not simply attend a concert; he experiences a theatrical-musical experience.

Lydia

I'm Austrian living in Tavronitis, love nature, music, good books, sunsets, the sea, travelling, socializing and more. I came to Crete as a student in the early 70s, exploring the west and southwest of the island with friends by motorbike. When you are young everything is important and, there are lots of things to do...I did. Job, family, children, travelling the world. But I never lost my love for Crete for a minute. And nine years ago I ended up in this convenient corner of Crete, not only for holidays, but to stay and haven't regretted it for a minute.
