Program of celebration of the National Anniversary of 28th October 1940 (OXI Day) – municipality of Platanias (Tavronitis, Kolymbari, Spilia, Gerani, Maleme) 28th October

28th October  is Oxi Day, a national holiday in Greece.
Traditionally, Oxi Day is celebrated with parades, flag decorating and wreath laying at various military memorials.

Program of events for the celebration of the National Anniversary of October 28, 1940″ in the Municipality of Platanias:

TAVRONITIS
10:00 Doxology at the Church of Myrtidiotissa
10:40 Memorial service at the Memorial to the Fallen at Tavronitis beach & laying of wreaths
11:00 Student Parade with participation of Tavronitis Kindergarten-Primary School & Evening EPAL

KOLYMBARI
10:00 Doxology at the Church of Agia Marina in Kolymbari
10:30 Memorial service at the Memorial to the Fallen & laying of wreaths
Parade of student delegations from Kolymbari Kindergarten, Kolymbari Kindergarten-Primary School and Kolymbari High School-Lyceum

SPILIA
09:15 Doxology at the Church Church of Myrtidiotissa in Spilia
10:15 Memorial service at the Heroes’ Monument in Spilia

PLATANIAS
10:00 Doxology at the Church of Agios Dimitrios in Pano Platanias
10:30 Memorial service at Memorial to the Fallen and laying  wreaths  at the War Shelter of Platanias below the Church Agios Dimitris

GERANI
09:00 Doxology at the Church of Agios Eleftherios
10:30 Memorial service at the Memorial to the Fallen in Lower Gerani

MALEME
10:00 Doxology at the Church of Agios Antonios in Maleme

I'm Austrian living in Tavronitis, love nature, music, good books, sunsets, the sea, travelling, socializing and more. I came to Crete as a student in the early 70s, exploring the west and southwest of the island with friends by motorbike.
