Hiking and getting to know our area – Modi 19th October
The Municipality of Platanias starts the hiking activities in areas of historical and environmental interest again!
The first hike will take place in the area of Modi,
on Sunday, 19th October at 16.15, in cooperation with the Community and the Cultural Association of Modi, with starting point at the square outside the Holy Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior in Modi
Hikers will follow a circular route of about 4.5 kilometers, of low difficulty, ( there are two uphill sections of about 150 meters, one with stairs) in a lush green environment
First stop at the chapel of Agios Gerasimos, on the eve of his feast, built in the cave where the Saint passed and lived for a while. The area has been highlighted and protected by the Municipality of Platanias, creating an ecological and religious park in an environment of unique natural beauty.
In the park there will be a small treat for the participants, before you will return to the Square I. Transfiguration of the Savior, at about 18.45.
The participants are recommended to wear light clothing, appropriate shoes and to bring water.
The hike will be accompanied by the Samaritan section of the Red Cross of the local division of Kissamos, for the safety of the participants.
