Free cultural Sunday returns across Greece

From 1st November  to 31st March entry to all archaeological sites, museums, and monuments managed by the Greek Ministry of Culture will be free for everyone, marking the return of Greece’s popular free admission Sundays for the winter season.

Admission to state-run cultural sites is free on every first Sunday of every month, allowing locals and visitors alike to explore Greece’s rich heritage without a ticket.

The Acropolis Museum in Athens is NOT included in the Ministry’s general free admission scheme, as it operates under a separate legal framework.
However, it offers its own free entry days, which include:

  • March 6 (Melina Mercouri Memorial Day)
  • March 25 (Greek Independence Day)
  • May 18 (International Museum Day)
  • October 28 (Ohi Day)

I'm Austrian living in Tavronitis, love nature, music, good books, sunsets, the sea, travelling, socializing and more. I came to Crete as a student in the early 70s, exploring the west and southwest of the island with friends by motorbike. When you are young everything is important and, there are lots of things to do...I did. Job, family, children, travelling the world. But I never lost my love for Crete for a minute. And nine years ago I ended up in this convenient corner of Crete, not only for holidays, but to stay and haven't regretted it for a minute.
