Concert “Mediterranean Day” – Chania 28th November

The Anna Lindh Euro-Mediterranean Foundation for the Dialogue Between Cultures is honored to announce their participation in this meaningful day. 
“We will join voices across the Mediterranean in a free This event, supported by the @AnnaLindhFoundation, brings together the Sounds from the Grassroots, showcasing the true stories, and connections that unite our communities.”.

This event will feature internationally acclaimed violinist and composer Maria Manousaki who returns with her new album  Behind Closed Doors, her third solo album, a powerful statement in contemporary world jazz.

Participating musicians:

Dimitris Verdinoglou (piano), Michael Evdemon (bass), Alekos Roupas (percussion), and guests Kyriakos Stavrianoudakis (laouto) and Zacharias Spyridakis (lyra), Laurie Hamalayaan (viola), Bernhard Klein (Cello).

As a prominent female artist in the Greek and American  jazz scene, Manousaki has carved out a distinct musical voice, blending the rich traditions of Cretan music with modern jazz and global influences.

I'm Austrian living in Tavronitis, love nature, music, good books, sunsets, the sea, travelling, socializing and more. I came to Crete as a student in the early 70s, exploring the west and southwest of the island with friends by motorbike. When you are young everything is important and, there are lots of things to do...I did. Job, family,children, travelling the world. But I never lost my love for Crete for a minute. And nine years ago I ended up in this convenient corner of Crete, not only for holidays, but to stay and haven't regretted it for a minute.
