Live music: Tsiknopempti (Τσικνοπέμπτη) celebration in Spilia – 20th February
THURSDAY 20 FEBRUARY MUSIC NIGHT AT THE “PLATEIA” TAVERNA IN SPILIA, at 20.30.
Tsiknopempti (Τσικνοπέμπτη), which literally means Smelly or Smoky Thursday, because of the smell of grilled meat in the air.
It is part of the traditional Carnival celebrations. Tsiknopempti is celebrated 11 days before Clean Monday.
The name Τσικνοπέμπτη comes from the two Greek words τσίκνα, the smell when you roast meat,and Πέμπτη, which means Thursday.
