Festival Esmigia- Vryses 31 August

Municipality Platanias: “We are pleased to announce the organization of the 2nd Esmigia Festival on Saturday, on 31st August  in Vryses”, (Platanias – Patellari – Vryses).
Esmigia is a Cretan word which means ‘meeting’, ‘get-together’.

The programme:
18:00: Walk: Katsouna Gorge
The Gorge of Katsouna is believed to be the Xenia Street of Herodotus, according to whom the guests of ancient Pergamos arrived through the gorge so as  not to have visual contact with the forts of the town. The length of the gorge is about one kilometer and starts from Vryses.
20:00: Traditional Cretan Kalanda in the streets of the village
21:30 Music and dance with G. Skirakis and M. Angelakis, the Folklore Club of Chania and the dance group Psiloritis.

I'm Austrian living in Tavronitis, love nature, music, good books, sunsets, the sea, travelling, socializing and more. I came to Crete as a student in the early 70s, exploring the west and southwest of the island with friends by motorbike.
